Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor (rhEGF)
Product Information
Part Number: GF001
Product Name: Epidermal Growth Factor
Synonyms: EGF, Epidermal Growth Factor, Urogastrone, URG
Quantity: 200 µg
Description
Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is expressed as a transmembrane protein that is proteolytically cleaved to generate soluble forms. EGF signals through the EGF receptor (EGFR/ErbB1), which can heterodimerize with ErbB2, ErbB3, or ErbB4, and may also associate with PDGF receptor beta and HGF receptor (c-MET). During development, EGF regulates thymocyte differentiation, neuroglia production, and adipocyte maturation. In the adult organism, EGF plays roles in mammary gland lactogenesis, fibroblast mitosis, dissociation of the extracellular matrix, and cell migration.
Source
Produced in Pichia pastoris.
The recombinant protein corresponds to the active domain of human EGF (aa 971–1023) fused at its C-terminus to six additional arginine residues.

Biological Activity
The biological activity of human EGF is defined by its Median Effective Dose (ED50), determined through a dose-dependent mitogenic activity assay using BALB/c 3T3 cells.
Historical batches have shown an ED50 activity ≤ 0.1 ng/mL.
